Pinyin and Just Enough Chinese

I have this book, several other guide books and text books from learning Mandarin Chinese using PinYin. Learning the mechanics of PinYin is very essential to being able to use this or any other books to learn Chinese. The other commonly used system BoPoMo is harder to learn. PinYin is the official romanization of Chinese and like other romanizations, there are rules you must learn before you can pronounce the language correctly. Street signs and many business signs in major Chinese cities use Pinyin in addition to Chinese characters. Take time to learn it and this book will make sense as it provides Pinyin and a loose romanization as a guide to helping you understand how to pronounce Mandarin words and phrases. Just Enough Chinese is a great beginning guide to the language.

I purchased this book for our son who was going to China. He said it provided him with the basic Chinese words & phrases that he needed. He also commented that it was compact & easy to use!
